WTH!!!???!!!???

What in the world just happened. At about 4:45 this morning Anna hears a huge crash and some tires squealing. I think I’m dreaming until she wakes me up. We look out our back window to find that someone has crashed through our fence and drove off. I call 911 and a few seconds later (yes I said seconds) there were two police cruisers outside. I was still on the phone while Anna talked to them. The fence can be replaced easily enough. Even though I just stained it! It's the two crate myrtles that they ran over. You can't replace those. At least they didn't hit the house and we weren't in the back yard at the time. The culprits did leave something behind though. It’s the plate off their Dodge Pickup truck… We’ll be at church in the morning.

First Day of "Big School" is FINALLY here!!!

That's right! Hannah started big school on Monday. She will be attending the daycare center for the teachers. She is SUPER excited! She has her Disney Princess backpack, her blanket, and her lovey all ready to go in her pink bubble gum box by the door.

We met one of her teachers on FRI. Ms. Janetta seems very nice. Hannah didn't want to leave "her room" which was nice. I was a little afraid as when I asked her earlier who she wanted her teacher to be she said, "Mommy!". However, I think she is warming up just nicely to the idea.

Her favorite part of her new room was that the bathroom had a "Hannah-sized" sink. She was so giddy this evening and just played and ran around with her backpack on.

Here is to a wonderful first day, sweet girl! I know you will just LOVE big school!

Daddy's edit: Tuesday wasn't such a good day as she had her "card" moved to yellow.

Daddy's edit #2: Wednesday was a much better day and her "card" is back to green

It all started...

with a little trip to McD's. The daddy had a wedding this past weekend so for dinner on FRI I thought I would take the kids to McD's and play.

I got them dressed and headed out the door. We went in and placed our order. Everything was going great! No one was crying. Everyone was listening to Mommy. So I go over to the drink fountain to start filling our drinks. And that is when the FUN began...

It seems little Andrew wasn't feeling well. Now I didn't know this as he was just fine when we left the house. All of a sudden out comes EVERYTHING he had eaten in the past few days. I thought grabbed on to him and put my hand up hoping to "catch" the mess before it hit the floor and caused a "McMess". Uh, not a good plan. Nope, it seems it wasn't just a little bit. It was a lot.

A kind mother gave me some napkins for him. Hannah didn't say much (unlike a month ago when he ralphed at Braums, "Mommy, he threw up on my highchair!"). I asked the girl behind the counter for a bag for his clothes and off to the restroom we went to wash up.

Everyone was very helpful and helped me get the kids and the food to the car. We got home and he seemed fine. However, he has thrown up a few times since and has had many runny diapers. He is still not eating like normal, but he seems to be sleeping ok.

Now the daddy has it... It seems to be going around the big town of Saginaw as another teacher today said her husband was sick and another child had puked at the McD's the day Auntie Chris and the kids stopped by. Needless to say, they didn't stay and play either.

I don't blame them one bit! Man, my little man must be super sensitive when it comes to his belly. What a way to spend my last week of summer vacation. Oh, well, at least this will make going back a little easier!!!!

Back-Blogged?

Is there such a word? Yes, we are still here and yes, we have been OFF all summer. However, it seems that this summer we traveled enough to make up for our lack of travel last summer. Andrew has been keeping me busy with his need of mommy companion and Hannah has been lots of fun to take on errands, play, and do projects with.

We have had LOADS of fun this summer and have tons of things to tell you. So let me take it one post at a time...

Give me a day or so though. The daddy has been feeling icky since SUN and I had to work half day today and ALL day tomorrow. We will get there. Check back for more updates! You know you wanna!!!!

Will Rogers Summer Camp 2008

In an effort to recapture some of my childhood, I went to Summer Camp again. It was a BLAST! Josh made this video up using Animoto. Not much has changed in 20 years and I hope it stays that way.

Hannah's First Dentist Visit.

I took Hannah to the dentist and she was such a big girl. She let the dentist do her work plus she got to make a bracelet and take home a new tooth brush.

I'm a Happy Boy! Happy Boy!

You have to know the "I'm a Happy Boy" song to appreciate this, but this video Anna took while giving Andrew a bath cracks me up.

Andrew's Adventure at Cooks

We have had quite a busy few weeks here. Andrew had his FW First Birthday here last weekend along with Mother's Day. Lots of celebrating and lots to post, but (as always) seem to be a bit behind here in Cowtown.

Anyway, on to the story at hand... Last TH Ricky and I headed out to the annual EM-S ISD banquet they have every year for the employees of the district. Hey, we are not ones to pass up free food!

We sent the kids to a friend's house for the evening. It was our first time out together in FOREVER. The funny thing was that we didn't even sit together! He sat with Highland and I sat with Chisholm, but nonetheless we were kid free...

We picked the kids up around 10 and headed home. They were beat! I slept in Drew's room that night (Ricky is picking up the "snoring" habit but blames it on being "sick".) Around 3 that night I hear him start making these awful noises. Uh, oh, yep! He is sick... Daddy's turn to stay home.

Daddy said he threw up ALL day. He would drink and then throw up and then play. Daddy stayed right by his side the whole day. By SAT he was running fever and running out of both ends. He slept off and on all day SAT. By SUN the fever had stopped and he was no longer throwing up, but he just wasn't himself.

We called the dr and they wanted us to head to the ER just to be sure. Hannah stayed with Auntie Chris while we headed to downtown FW. Poor little booger! His lips were soooo dry and chapped. He was licking them trying to get just some bit of wetness.

He was very whiney and just wasn't the loveable little guy he usually is. When we got there, we didn't wait long before they called us back. Instead of checking our vitals and sending us out to registration, we went straight back to the ER. Guess he just LOOKED sick.

The doctor came in less than 5 min and said, "Yep, he is dehydrated. Let's start the IV."

In come 3 very nice nurses to help Drew out. The nice thing was they did ALL of the holding. Andrew didn't like it one bit. For one, he HATES to be held down and two I don't think the needle in his hand was a picnic.

They even came him some Zofran for the nausea. The only thing was that they wouldn't let him drink anything until the Zofran had kicked in. He cried for 30 min. The nurse finally came back to check and see if his IV was hurting him, but um no. He was just mad b/c he wanted his sippy.

Finally, he was able to drink. He drank and slept off and on the rest of the afternoon. Every time Nurse Tana came back in to check on him, he would just HOWL at her until she left the room. It was kind of funny.

I knew he started feeling better when he got mad at his "arm" (that was all wrapped up with his IV) because it was causing him to drop his cup.

Finally, after several doses of fluids, the nurse called the doctor in to re-eval Andrew. Even the doctor couldn't believe how much better he looked since he came in. He still wasn't smiling or anything, but his cheeks were filling back out and his eyes didn't look so sunk in.

Andrew is definitely getting better each day. Yesterday he finally started to eat a little. He hasn't been walking much until today. He even started giggling last night! It was such a nice sound to hear again.

I kept him home with me again today ( I was already home with Hannah. She started feeling sick yesterday) as his belly is still a little upset. I have changed more diapers today than I have since he was a newborn.

He is going back to school tomorrow. His pediatrician wants to see him tomorrow if the diarrhea hasn't gone away. Guess we will play that by ear.

We learned two things from this experience: 1) What a dehydrated child looks like and 2) Where the Children's ER was...

Hannah Said It...

I'm going to have to write these down so I don't forget them. Hannah has such an imagination and her use of words is nothing short of hilarious.

Said driving down the road looking at a huge construction crane, “Daddy, look at that big fishing pole.”

Said after buying Hannah one of those little drumstick ice cream cones, “Daddy, I have an Ice Cream Burrito.” In her defense, Hannah thinks anything wrapped up is a burrito, when she is drying off with a towel, she is “Hannah Burrito”

Anna told me this just the other day. She and Hannah were at Target and they were walking through the bra section. Hannah goes, “Mommy look at those booby shoes!”

Happy 1st Birthday Andrew!

Everyone had a great time at Tatanka Ranch. This made Andrew's 1st birthday party a memorable one. Thank you to everyone who came and I’m sure I’ll post more pictures and Andrew's video too.

Hannah's First Fish

While at Tatanka Ranch Hannah went on her 2nd boat ride, but this time we took out a fishing pole. While Josh caught two fish in three casts, I wasn’t as lucky. I just couldn’t get to all the ‘good’ spots because Hannah kept wanting to get closer to the geese. So I let the lure drag behind me while I paddled the boat and while taking a picture of Hannah the pole started going crazy. I was able to reel in the tiny perch, but Hannah was proud and ‘caught’ her first fish.
